District Events
Report on District Conference. We had 300 people attend, the largest turnout in many years. This included
127 Rotarians and 40 children. In addition, 42 people came down on Thursday night to see the Orioles play
the Red Sox. More information to follow.
Union County Intercity Meeting. Tuesday, May 1st, 12 to 2 pm, hosted by the Fanwood Scotch Plains club
at Snuffy’s Pantagis Renaissance Restaurant. The GSE team is the program. All interested Rotarians are

Mercer County Intercity Meeting. Friday, May 11th, 12 to 2 pm, hosted by the Princeton Corridor Club. The
GSE team is the program. Respond to Barbara Evans of you wish to attend. bgevanshome@comcast.net
District Assembly. May 16th, Wed. This program is designed to train your club Secretaries, Treasurers,
Foundation chairs, Membership chairs, Publicity chairs, and Service Projects Chairs. Please bring your full
team for training to have a successful year. We will have invited two inspiring speakers
on the topic of
Polio, and will be giving out several awards.


District News
Membership in the District is UP! By working together, we have turned the corner, and the district
membership is starting to increase again. Keep up the good work. We need a long term 4 year effort to
make a significant difference. See Appendix III for the details.
The Greek GSE Team Visit has been rescheduled to arrive on
April 23rd, Monday, and leave on May 19th,
Sat. Check the revised schedule below for updated events.
Alex Cauwels nominated as DGD. Alex Cauwels has been selected by the Nominating Committee to be our
District Governor in the years 2009-2010. He is from the Princeton Corridor Club, and is currently an
Assistant Governor. His official title at this point is District Governor Designate. Congratulations, Alex!


Awards
Awards given at District Conference:
The Governor’s Club of the Year Award goes to: Hamilton
Service Above Self Award Goes to: William “Ed” Griffin, from The Princeton Club. This is an exceptional
award, which is awarded from RI to a few rare outstanding individuals in the world. Our district has only
had two individuals win this in our history, and now Ed is the third. It is based on Service both in Rotary
and in other areas of his personal life.
Citation for Meritorious Service was awarded to
ADG Christine Manville for her exceptional devotion to
Rotary.
The Governor’s Award for Dedication to Rotary goes to PDG Elly Ezra who has worked exceptionally hard
this year to create the biggest Foundation fundraiser we have ever had, and as the conference chair of the
successful Baltimore conference.
Membership Awards The Carteret Club won the District Membership Award for inducting 16 new members
and more than doubling the size of their club. President Tony Neibert won the free weekend at the District
Conference for personally bringing in the most new members. Branchburg and Warren-Watchung each
inducted 7 new members, Piscataway 6 new members, and Metuchen 5 mew members Congratulations to
everyone who worked so hard to increase membership
Newsletter Award. The following Rotary Clubs won the District Newsletter Award.
First Place: Princeton;
Second Place: Lambertville-New Hope;
Third Place: New Brunswick. Thank you to Robert O’Connor from the Union Club for chairing this
committee.
Significant Achievement Award.

Website Awards
Thank you to Chair Lewis Edge and Glenn Paul for working on this committee.
The median size club in our district is 27members, so the clubs were split in half based on size.
Small club winners with fewer than 27 members as of February 2007 are: First Place: Branchburg Second
Place: Plainfield/North Plainfield Third Place: Roselle/Roselle Park
Larger club winners with 27 or more members as of February 2007 are: First Place: Princeton Corridor
Second Place: Princeton Third Place: Dunellen/Green Brook
Care and Share Awards Club Service: Flemington. This club supports the local Food Pantry in many ways,
including funding, food collection, stocking shelves, locating needy families. They have 100% of their
members participate. Community Service: Hamilton. They have a program to help seniors which Includes
meals on wheels plus includes books, tapes, magazines, batteries, greeting cards, etc, all delivered as one
package. International Service: Princeton Corridor. Support Our Troops-Operation Shoe Box. This project
is the collection and delivery of a van full of personal care and familiar objects, letters of support and
greeting cards to the troops in Afganistan and Iraq. 100% Club Participation. Vocational Service:
Branchburg. Driven to Read Program. Collected books Through Auto dealers State wide, which clubs
picked up and delivered to child care locations. Project encourages literacy among children. Special Award:
Trenton. Raised over $100,000 to build Handicapped Accessible Playground park in Mercer County, to be
known as Rotary Park. Groundbreaking scheduled for Spring of 2007. Extensive news coverage.

Thank you to the members of the committee who were Chairman Ed Kornstein, Pam Carringer, Gwen
Doremus-Williams, and Joe Lucci.

Rotary District 7510-Number Two in World

“Let’s try harder”
As of right now, Our Rotary International District 7510 has EIGHT 100% Paul Harris Fellow Clubs, which
makes us the number two district in the world. District 4130 in Mexico has NINE 100% clubs. District 5320
in California, which includes Orange County, has six.No district has ever had more than ten. Let’s try
harder; we need 3 more clubs to reach 11, to become the number one district in the world!

The Rotary Peace and Conflict Studies Program (RPCSP) announces a call for applications for the January
2008 Program Session. The deadline for District endorsed applications is July 1, 2007. For more

Club News
Berkeley Heights. Presidential Citation, completed annual giving goal.
Branchburg received a PR grant of $2,000 from RI. They have increased membership
by 7, and have qualified for the Presidential Citation. Won the Vocational Service Care
and Share Award for Driven to Read Project. Completed Annual Giving Goal.

Carteret has inducted 15 new members, more than doubling the size of the club.
Everyone is involved and doing a variety of community service projects. They have also
started an Interact club with 40 students. Congratulations, and keep up the good work!

Clinton Sunrise has become a 100% Paul Harris Fellow Club!

Cranford has launched a new website www.cranfordrotary.org  Check it out!

Dunellen Green Brook Club. will hold its meetings at: The Dunellen Hotel, 120 North
Washington Avenue, Dunellen, NJ 08812, Still on Thursdays 12:15 p.m.
They have had their PR grant of $1,700 approved by RI.

Edison. Completed Annual Giving Goal.

Elizabeth. Meets at the same place, but the hotel name has changed from Wyndham to
Doubletree. Completed Annual Giving Goal.

Fanwood-Scotch Plain Was Second in our district for the RI Foundation Per Capita
Giving Award, with $228.71 per capita donated. Congratulations. Increased membership
by 5. Presidential Citation.

Flemington has earned the Presidential Citation. Won the Care and Share Award for the
Food Pantry Service Project. Completed Annual Giving Goal.

Franklin Club has become a 100% Paul Harris Fellow Club. Congratulations!
Increased membership. Presidential Citation. Completed Annual Giving Goal.

Hamilton Club. had it’s $2,500 PR grant application approved by RI. Presidential
Citation. Won the Care and Share Award for the Senior Care-Wheels on Meals Service
Project. Completed Annual Giving to The Rotary Foundation.
Governor’s Club of the Year Award.

The Hamilton Washington Sunrise Rotary Club will now be meeting at :
The Golden Dawn Diner, 2090 White Horse Mercerville Rd, Mercerville, NJ.
They still meet Friday mornings at 7:30 am. RI has approved $2,500 PR Grant for them.
Presidential Citation.

Hightstown-South Brunswick has increased membership. Good job. Presidential Citation.
Hillsborough has increased membership by 4 Presidential Citation.
Kenilworth. The meeting place has changed to: Dolce Vita, 520 S. 31st, Kenilworth, N.J.
(908) 245-0836 Meetings will still be Wednesdays at 12:15.

Lambertville-New Hope has a new President, Dave Ringer. His correct email is

Lawrenceville. The Lawrenceville Club has voted to dissolve and has stopped meeting.
The three remaining members will join other area clubs.

The club has moved it’s location to the Southern Smokehouse,
in the Target Shopping Center off Route1.

Metuchen Membership increased by 5! Earned Presidential Citation.

Montgomery-Rocky Hill has had their $2,500 PR grant application approved by RI.

Mountainside. The Mountainside Club meets at “Famous Dave's Bar-B-Q”
starting next Monday, (12:15) 1443 Route 22 (East Bound), (908) 232-5619
The Mountainside Club has become a 100% Paul Harris Fellow Club! Congrats!
Completed Annual Giving Goal.

New Brunswick. Club now meets at Panico’s Italian Restaurant, 103 Church St.
meetings are still Thursdays at 12:15, To confirm, please contact President Maria Winter
rotarymw@gmail.com. Membership increased by 4.Presidential Citation.

Old Bridge-Sayreville. Was in First Place in our district last year for RI Foundation Per
Capita Giving Award, with $260.71 donated per capita. Congratulations for earning this
RI Foundation Award. Membership increased. Presidential Citation. Completed Annual
Giving Goal.

Piscataway. Piscataway Rotary Club has changed its meeting place to the Radisson
Hotel on Knightsbridge Road, off Centennial Ave, next to Route 287. in Piscataway.
The date and time remain the same, Monday at 12:15. (It's next to Embassy Suites)
Presidential Citation. Completed Annual Giving Goal.

Plainfield-North Plainfield has earned the Presidential Citation. Second Place in
Website Awards.

Plainsboro. The location of the meetings has changed to Pierre's Restaurant & Catering
582 Georges Rd, Dayton, NJ 08810 (732) 329-3219.
The Plainsboro Club has become a 100% Paul Harris Fellow Club. Congratulations!
Completed Annual Giving Goal.

Princeton RI has approved a PR Grant of $2,200 for them. See appendix V for a
community Project Princeton is doing with coupons.

Princeton Corridor. Membership increased by 2. Alex Cauwels nominated to be
Governor for 2009-2010. Presidential Citation. Won the Care and Share Award for
Operation Shoe Box International Service Project.

Roselle-Roselle Park. Has become 100% Paul Harris Fellow Club.
Congratulations! They also earned third place in our district for the RI Foundation Per
Capita Giving Award, with $175.00 per capita donated. Congratulations.
Membership increased. Presidential Citation. Completed Annual Giving Goal.

Somerville-Bridgewater. Membership increased. Presidential Citation.

South Amboy-Sayreville. Father Dennis has become the new Club President.
The Club has decided to become a 100% Paul Harris Fellow Club.

South Plainfield. Completed Annual Giving Goal.

South River-East Brunswick. Membership increased. Presidential Citation

Summit-New Providence. Membership increased by 3. Presidential Citation.

Trenton Club has had their Public Relations Grant application for $3,000 approved by
RI. Good job! Won the Care and Share Award for the Handicapped Accessible Park in
Mercer County, named “Rotary Park”. Completed Annual Giving Goal.

Watchung-Warren. Membership increased by 7. Great Job, Frank!
Presidential Citation. Completed Annual Giving Goal.

Westfield has become a 100% Paul Harris Fellow Club. Congratulations to the
Governor’s club! Presidential Citation. Completed Annual Giving Goal.

Whitehouse received a PR Grant from RI for $2,500. Great Job! Whitehouse has become
a 100% Paul Harris Fellow Club. Congratulations! Completed Annual Giving Goal.

Woodbridge has changed it’s meeting location. It now meets at Dominic’s Restaurant,
